Rules for Recovery – Getting Better is Being Better

by Ellen A Mogensen, Past & Now Forward Holistic Counseling

Healing/recovery from any mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual illness follow a familiar pattern which you may already know.

These “Rules of Recovery” are from the most famous recovery source of all: Alcoholics Anonymous – The 12 Step Program.

Recovery becomes the search for serenity. You may remember the famous Serenity Prayer:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.”

1> RECOGNIZE THAT YOU HAVE A “REAL” PROBLEM

You can never heal any problem unless you first admit that you have one (see the “Rules #4: Healing”). In fact, from the moment you recognize you have a problem, your healing process begins. In the language of 12 Steps, “we admitted we were powerless over our problems (fill in the blank with your problems): that our lives had become unmanageable”. We promise ourselves “we are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness”. We choose to know “hope instead of desperation”.

2> YOU NEED HELP FROM OTHERS TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM

If you could solve the problem on your own, you would have. When you cannot, you need to get help. In the language of 12 Steps, “we came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to a joyous and peaceful way of thinking and living “. We promise ourselves “we will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it”. We choose to know “faith instead of despair”.

3> BECOME OPEN TO RECEIVING THIS HELP FROM OTHERS

Knowing that you need help is no good unless you are open to receiving it. Openness to receiving help always involves courage to make an extraordinary leap of faith. For to heal, we must put ourselves in the hands of others. In the language of 12 Steps, “we made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of this power of our own understanding”. So we promise ourselves “we will fully comprehend the word serenity”. We choose to know “courage instead of fear”.

4> AGREE TO DISCOVER THE INNER CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM

Your illness and your problems are intensely personal and meant to propel you on a journey of learning (see the “Rules #7: Illness”). You cannot heal the problem unless you are willing to discover it’s inner cause. You cannot discover the inner cause unless you are willing to look within. In the language of 12 Steps, “we made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves”. We promise ourselves “we will know peace”. We choose to know “peace of mind instead of confusion”.

5> ADMIT TO OTHERS THE EXACT NATURE OF YOUR PROBLEM

Admitting your problems to others is what allows the darkness to be brought to light and is what allows the healing to transform your state of being. Admitting your problems to others allows them to benefit by avoiding the mistakes you have made. In the language of 12 Steps, “we admitted to this power of our own understanding, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs”. We promise ourselves “no matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others “. We choose to know “self-respect instead of self-contempt” because we believe we are worthy.

6> MAKE THE COMMITMENT TO CHANGE FOR THE BETTER

Changing for the better is simple but often hard to do. It is simply this: “Choose to love at every moment: forgive everyone, everything”. For negative emotions – like fear, hate, anger – lie at the bottom of illnesses and love is the cure. In the language of 12 Steps, “we were entirely ready to have all these defects or character removed”. We promise ourselves “the feelings of uselessness and self-pity will disappear “. We choose to know “self-confidence instead of helplessness “.

7> ASK OTHERS TO HELP YOU CHANGE FOR THE BETTER

Change can happen in an instant. To make sure that the change lasts, we need the help of God and all other people in our lives to keep our feet planted on the path of change. For know that if we do not stick to the necessary changes we have agreed to make in our lives, our problems will return to us. They return until we have learned our lessons or our bodies-minds have no choice but to die. If we die, it so that we can get another chance to learn to love. In the language of 12 Steps, “we humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings”. We promise ourselves “we will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in others”. We choose to know “the respect of others instead of their pity and contempt”.

8> PUT THE PAST BEHIND YOU AND MAKE A NEW START

You life can only begin anew once you have agreed to put the past behind you. You cannot change the past, you can only become willing to make amends for it. Others may or may not forgive you. Whether they do or not, realize that you are making amends primarily for your peace of mind and to ingrain in you the habit of always projecting love. In the language of 12 Steps, “we made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all”. We promise ourselves “self-seeking will slip away”. We choose to know “a clean conscience instead of a sense of guilt” because today is the first day of the rest of our life.

9> TAKE STEPS TO “SHOW” YOU HAVE MADE A NEW START

Our bodies and minds were not meant to hold negative emotions – they were meant to receive and give love unconditionally. We cannot heal our bodies-minds as long as we continue to drink in the poison that sustained negative emotions and bad treatment of ourselves and others produce in us. In the language of 12 Steps, “we made direct amends to such people (including ourselves) wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others”. We promise ourselves “our whole attitude and outlook on life will change”. We choose to know “friendships instead of loneliness” because we know that we are loving and loveable.

10> IMPLEMENT THE CHANGE EVERY DAY, ONE DAY AT A TIME

To be effective and long lasting, change must be a continuous daily process. Many fail to make changes because doing so forever seems overwhelming. The process becomes manageable when we take it one day at a time and allow ourselves to have setbacks without ever giving up on ourselves. In the language of 12 Steps, “we continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it”. We promise ourselves “fear of people and insecurity will leave us”. We choose to know “a clean pattern of life instead of a purposeless existence “.

11> GOD WILL ALWAYS HELP YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY

Opening ourselves to God’s help is the only way that we ultimately succeed. In the language of 12 Steps, “we sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood God, praying only for knowledge of God’s will for us and the power to carry that out”. We promise ourselves “we will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us”. We choose to see “the love and understanding of our families instead of their doubts and fears”.

12> AS WE HELP OTHERS TO HEAL, WE HEAL OURSELVES

In the language of 12 Steps, “having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these twelve steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs “. We promise ourselves “we will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves “. We choose to know “the freedom of a happy life instead of the bondage of our problems”.

Karma : The 12 Laws Of Karma

What is Karma? Karma is the Sanskrit word for action. It is equivalent to Newton’s law of ‘every action must have a reaction’. When we think, speak or act we initiate a force that will react accordingly. This returning force maybe modified, changed or suspended, but most people will not be able eradicate it. This law of cause and effect is not punishment, but is wholly for the sake of education or learning. A person may not escape the consequences of his actions, but he will suffer only if he himself has made the conditions ripe for his suffering. If he were to continue acting in such a way that the retribution cannot come about, because the conditions are not appropriate, then he may postpone the fruition of his karma. If he can suspend it until he is in the spirit world, then he may work at this particular karma in this intermission between death and next life. Or he may wait until another life in which he is more developed so that he can gleaned the educational value of this retribution. Conversely, his life could be so derelict that the blessings due to him cannot fructify until a later date or a subsequent life. All these fall into the category of suspension of karma to a more propitious period or life.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse” whether the laws are man-made or universal. To stop being afraid and to start being empowered in the worlds of karma and reincarnation, here is what you need to know about karmic laws.

The Law of Karma is the Buddhist and Hindu version of the Golden Rule, basically, that what you do to others will return and be done to you. It’s stated in similar terms in almost every religion in the world.

In the East, the law reads (in translation):

For every event that occurs, another event will follow that was caused by the first, and the second event will be pleasant or unpleasant due to and indirect relation to its cause”

The belief teaches that the person who takes action is responsible for that action, if not in this lifetime, then in future lives. In effect, what you did in your past lives comes forward to your present life and determines the events you experience now.

Buddhism takes these beliefs much deeper, delving into intention andthought as well as spoken words and action. With everything we feel, say, or do, we make choices. Whatever you choose to do produce  ripples that travel through time. Those choices are our karma, good or bad.

Instead of seeing bad karma as punishment for actions in your past lives, you can better understand it as a lesson toward living in Oneness with all people and things. The Law of Karma – as simple as: You reap what you sow – extends from your past lives into your future lives. How you apply it in your present life determines your results.

1: LAW OF NEUTRALITY – Just as the “Law of Gravity” always works to pull things toward the Earth, these “Laws of Karma” apply to all equally, no exceptions. The universe is neutral: there are no favorite ones, there are no cursed ones, there are only divine beings created the Creator and all these divine beings are loved by Creator equally, deeply, and completely.

2: LAW OF AGREEMENT – The most terrible truth that anyone will ever learn while they are on Earth is… that they agreed to come here and to experience all that has, is, and will happen to them. The universe operates under this simple rule: all that happens is by prior agreement based on karmic justice between all the parties involved to balance past karma.

3: LAW OF LESSONS – We reincarnate to learn what is and is not like love. In the worlds of duality, we learn from experiencing polar opposites: “good-bad”, “problem-solution”, etc until we evolve into divine love, joy, and awareness. We walk the divine circle – where there is no saint without a past and no sinner without a future – until we learn our lessons.

4: LAW OF CAUSE & EFFECT – What you have done unto others in past lives or in this one (cause), weaves the karmic agreement of your present and future (effect). Consciously acting from loving kindness to yourself and others instantly reweaves the present and future karmic agreements into greater pathways of empowerment and unfoldment.

5: LAW OF BALANCE – The point of learning lessons is to achieve balance. Imbalances drive your personal cycle of reincarnation. “What you bring hate to, you reincarnate to” is how balance is achieved. For you can only truly understand a thing when you become that thing and cease to judge it, cherish unloving opinions, or harbor unrealistic expectations about it.

6: LAW OF ATTRACTION – Your consistently repeated thoughts packed with your consistently felt emotions become magnetized and attract similar thoughts packed with emotions to manifest your desires into reality. Whatever thoughts and emotions you focus on the most – with the most intensity and the most time – whether intentionally or unintentionally, becomes your belief-karma. The more you invest in them with your focus, the stronger they become. Your belief-karma generates your thoughts, forms your attitudes, guides your actions, and creates your results.

7: LAW OF CONNECTION – You connect with the people, opportunities, and events necessary to manifest your desires if you allow, believe, and expect it will happen for you. Allowing means you open yourself to let manifestation flow to you by believing what you need to manifest your desires will come to you and by expecting if-when you take consistent and appropriate actions your desires will manifest into reality as you have asked.

8: LAW OF EXPANSION – Since everything in the universe is energy, the universe is always expanding from lower to higher vibrational states. Change and growth are inevitable because energy is always expanding. The universe expands through chaos, reorganization, and order in an endless cycle of change and growth to create continuous improvement.

9: LAW OF UNFOLDMENT

Your internal map of reality is always changing to reflect your personal state of learning and growth. Your map of reality is always being refined into greater levels of truth as your consciousness unfolds. Unfoldment is a gradual process so that you can learn life lessons at your own pace as you reincarnate through time.

10: LAW OF EMPOWERMENT – If you “let whatever happens be ok”, you are accepting the “default” pattern of karma. Empowerment comes from a conscious decision to take control of karma by accepting absolute and total responsibility for your life and by always consciously acting with loving kindness.

11: LAW OF ALL POSSIBILITIES – There is no end to the joy you can experience or to what you can create. For all the power to get what you want comes from within you. Every moment brings with it new possibilities and opportunities for action. Whatever you can dream, you can do, be, or have in the universe of all possibilities… this is your birthright as a divine being.

12: LAW OF LOVE – Karma begins and ends with love. Karma was created to propel you as Soul on a personal journey of reincarnation through the universe. Karma ends when you have perfected yourself in your ability to love unconditionally. The sole purpose of karma and reincarnation is to bring us all to a state of divine love, joy, and awareness.

Universal Laws : The 12 Universal Laws & 21 Sub-Laws Everyone Needs to Know for Success in Life

The Universal Laws are all inter-related and are founded on the understanding that everything in the universe is energy, including us, and that energy moves in a circular fashion. At the microscopic level, we are a whirling mass of electrons and energy atoms spinning rapidly. In fact, everything in the world is comprised of energy and we are intimately connected with this sea of energy, this sea of whirling electrons.

Our thoughts, feelings, words, and actions are all forms of energy. What we think, feel, say, and do in each moment comes back to us to create our realities. Energy moves in a circle, so what goes around comes around. The combined thoughts, feelings, words and actions of everyone on the planet creates our collective consciousness, it creates the world we see before us.

The exciting news is, because our thoughts, feelings, words and actions create the world around us, we have the power to create a world of peace, harmony and abundance. In order to do this, it is essential that we learn to control our thoughts and emotions. Understanding the Universals Laws help us to do this.

There isn’t just the Law of Attraction you know! The Secret made the Law of Attraction very well known, but without learning about the other universal laws and mastering these ones too you may be left high and dry when it comes to manifesting the life of your dreams…

When you don’t understand and/or live in harmony with the Law of Attraction, Vibration, Polarity, Rhythm, Gender, Cause and Effect, Perpetual Transmutation of Energy, Reciprocity, Mental-ism, Correspondence, etc., you will suffer as those laws are not biased and are fixed and they operate despite one’s ignorance.

1 ~ The Law of Divine Oneness

We live in a world where everything and everyone is connected to everything and everyone else.  Every single thing we are doing, saying, thinking and believing effects others around us as well as the universe we are part of.   We are all connected.

2 ~ The Law of Vibration

Everything single thing in our universe moves, vibrates and travels in circular motions.  These very same principles of vibration apply in our physical world through our thoughts, feelings and desires.  Everything has it’s own vibrational frequency from sounds, to things and even our thoughts.  Your vibration will attract like vibrations to you.

3 ~ The Law of Action

To see the Law of Attraction in Action we must take inspired action.  To manifest the things we desire we must engage in actions which support our desires as well as our thoughts, dreams, emotions and words.

4 ~ The Law of Correspondence

As Above, So Below.  Energy, Light, Vibration and Motion all have their corresponding principles.  Everything on the physical plane has a corresponding principle out there in the universe.

5 ~ The Law of Cause & Effect

Nothing ever happens by chance.  We reap what we sow, every action has a reaction and consequence.  What we put out there we get back.  Karma….

6 ~ The Law of Compensation

As for the Law of Cause and Effect what we put out we get back by way of abundance in all area’s.   By helping others and taking positive actions great things will come back into our lives.  We will be compensated for our good deeds, give your heart and soul to everything.

7 ~ The Law of Attraction

What we think about we bring about, our thoughts become things.  All of our thoughts, feelings, words and actions are producing energy which in turn attract like energies and things into our lives.  Negative or Positive like attracts like.    The Law of Attraction is also known as the Law of Love ♥

8  ~ The Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy

Simply put, everyone has the ability within them to transform their life.  We can do this by understanding these universal laws and changing our energy.  It’s up to us to do it! Higher vibrations consume and transform lower ones; thus, each of us can change the energies in our lives by understanding the Universal Laws and applying the principles in such a way as to effect change. More importantly it explains that even thoughts are energy that also transform and manifest in our lives in direct accordance to our mindset & the type of attention we apply to them.

9 ~ The Law of Relativity

Everyone has challenges! We are all given challenges for a reason, opportunities to learn and grow.  These challenges are sent to strengthen our inner light.  The law also wants us to  look at other people’s challenges and problems worse than ours so we can gain perspective.  It’s all relative.

10 ~ The Law of Polarity

Everything has a polar opposite good or bad.   This is the Contrast and Clarity, when you know what you don’t want in turn you know what you do want.  Focus on the Good things you want

11 ~ The Law of Rhythm

Everything moves and vibrates to certain rhythms.  This can be seasons, cycles, stages of our development and patterns happening in the universe.  We need to stay in flow throughout these rhythms of life.

12 ~ The Law of Gender

Yin & Yang.  Everything and everyone has feminine and masculine principles and energies, this is how creation happens in the universe.  We must all find the balance between the two to master our lives.

The 21 Sub-Laws

There are also 21 Sub-Laws which relate to the human characteristics we should embody in our lives ~

  • Aspiration to A Higher Power
  • Charity
  • Compassion
  • Courage
  • Dedication
  • Faith

  • Hope
  • Joy
  • Kindness
  • Leadership
  • Noninterference
  • Patience
  • Praise

Everyone should know these laws, it wasn’t until I did that I understood why certain things happened in life.   Help to pass this onto others who may be struggling in life and help us spread the positive vibes around and bring back Bliss to our planet.

Listening Makes All The Difference

How many times have you been talking away, wrapped up in a conversation, sharing something important, meaningful or revealing about yourself only to realize that the person you are talking with has drifted away and is obviously somewhere else? And, if you tell the truth, haven’t you done the very same thing yourself? What does it take for us to really hear what someone else is saying to us about themselves?

Genuine connections begin with deep listening. And satisfying communication requires us to be fully present for each other and to really hear what is being offered up. For most of us deep listening does not come naturally. In fact life experience often trains our natural deep listening abilities right out of us.

There are many ways that our ability to hear someone else becomes blocked. Once we know about these blocks we have a much better chance of releasing them and cultivating more satisfying habits. Here are three of common ways we undermine the quality of communication in our relationships.

Three Common Communication Blocks

1. We listen for what needs fixing, changing or figuring out. Many of us learned very early in life to look and listen for problems. We are quick to notice what is not working and what is wrong. We are busy analyzing and sorting for what is not right. Our perspective distorts our listening abilities.

2. We listen for opportunities to share our own wisdom, knowledge and competence. We are busy listening to the running commentary inside our own head while someone else is talking to us.

3. We assume that we know what words and sentences are coming next. Often we have moved on long before our partners’ sharing is complete. We have lost our curiosity, the ability to be open with wonder about another human being.

Being fully present for another is an art that can be cultivated. The following antidotes will give you some clues about how to go about this.

Listening: The TAO of EFFECTIVE LISTENING - Yin and Yang of Listening: Listening to Emotins and Active Listening
The Antidotes

1. See others as whole and complete right from the start. Know that everyone has a source of internal wisdom and intelligence that they can access for their own answers and guidance.

This might feel like a big leap at first. When people are telling us their “problems” we automatically assume that they want us to do something about them. But there are many times when the greatest gift we can give another is our confidence in their own abilities to find solutions for themselves. Granted this is not always the case and in some situations, when advice is clearly sought and asked for there is nothing wrong with offering help. But often we interfere when quiet listening would serve the most.

2. Give up trying to impress others with your brilliance and be fully present for them instead. The fact that you know things and have gifts and talents is without question. Everybody does. If you want to create genuine connections with others, forget about your self and get curious about them instead.

3. Be curious and approach each communication – whether with someone you have just met or someone you have been married to for thirty years, with fresh eyes of wonder. We change and so do our friends, children and partners. When you think you already know everything there is to know about another person the adventure of intimacy begins to falter.

You can create genuine intimate connections by looking for wholeness, focusing fully on the other person and cultivating ongoing curiosity. Listen in this way and notice how the loving feelings between you and those you care about blossom.

Reblog: I Love Having The Ability To Do Readings

Today i am thankful for the ability to see what lies beneath the surface. I’m speaking about readings specifically. What readings? The type of readings that are done with shells, coins, cards and numbers. From my experience on the earth, its been 34 years now (this incarnation) anyway. My person wanted to know the truth in life ever since i can remember. Even when i did not know the questions to ask when i was a little girl. I came to my conclusions about what i felt was right or wrong from a religious perspective. I had a strong impression of divine truth when i was little as well to the point where- I told my family that certain things i was taught in school was wrong and i knew it was not right. Historical things and the list goes on. Fact is i knew better. I rebelled as a result, but not in a way where i went to jail or hated anyone for what they taught. I was just set on doing my thing and fulfilling my mission on earth.

After i got the fun lesson about energy and how it moves through thoughts and people in general plus it makes up the world. I learned that thoughts are often not ours, because thoughts are energy we must be mindful of thoughts and energies that come to us. Somethings are not ours and therefore are not for us to move on. Instead we are to ignore hundreds of thoughts and energy that don’t match our vibration daily. Once i learned about the transference of thoughts and how strong they can be to the point that a person will think the thought is there’s i knew i needed to know how to help me and others with blocking or allowing what belongs to them. Soon after reading a couple books and hearing from my ancestors…  I asked the creator to allow me to SEE. That way i would not have to go through the lessons in my life blindfolded again. Following illusions and the like was not a pat of my game plan in this life.

That request has given me so much in return. In fact i know i will not ever again walk the earth without using my tools. The gift of freewill was given to us all. I recognized that early on. I was going to use mine to the fullest too. Why not? So i got learned the hard way because i wanted to learn not merely through experiences but by walking the path. What a wonderful life it is. I thought i was walking alone when i chose to do that but that is an impossibility. More on that later.

More on The Ability to Divine: Through the ability of inner-sight I can see into life, people and situations if i need to, for personal decisions and for work purposes for my clients. People have all kinds of challenges this lifetime. We all do. Thankfully i can assist in removing obstructions, offer spiritual consulting, support and bring clarity to those who come my way. I am ever humble about the gifts i have. I don’t speak much about the work i do. I definitely do not give details out of my work and clients. ethics and morals are in line with what i do. This work is nothing to play with. I check my oracles before i take on a client as well. I only work with those the oracles show, i CAN help with their situations. I will refer clients to other people if i need to. Sometimes people have to prepare for their spiritual work before coming to me as well. Oracles show all of this. I have been open psychically since i came to this planet. I have been reading for over 5 years.

On top of that i have a group of ancestors (guides) whom i walk with that assist me with what i do. I call this my team also, They are a heavy part of Bliss Returned. We have several lifetimes of work to do. I know this sounds deep. Trust me it truly is.

I have always had a strong intuitive nature. My mind always wanted to know the details, the facts of life, not the ones that were JUST written in books. I wanted to understand  what ideas motivated a particular movement or decision. I had a deep connection to the hearts of people. I knew there was some divine element within each and ever one of us. It did not matter how a person acted or treated others’. I could see the hidden pieces. The pieces they did not want the world to see. That has been my gift.

As a result of intuitively ‘knowing’ I did not listen well growing up after a certain age..I craved answers about what was what.. My explanation of why i was not just going with the flow was that,  i felt as though i was not of this world. It was my destiny to question everything. I listened better when there was background information on why ‘we’ had to do things a certain way. This is one reason i am an ideal candidate for assisting gifted children. I was there. I can certainly feel the inner struggle they have with understanding and being understood too.

All throughout my life, spiritual connection to the unseen was so solidified that i had to learn to balance between the physical world and that which is in the inner planes too. I It was because i thought i knew life intuitively enough to where i could, make my way through listening to the inner feeling i had. Learning the art of spiritually reading has been  fun. It is one of the greatest tools I have ever received.

I am gifted with the hands to heal and the heart to counsult others in their lives. I have clients who are all ages. Some clients are twice my age. Age is no matter on the earthly plane to me, all that matters is your ability to do what you do. The universe (creator) has brought us all to someone for a reason. We all have lessons to learn, it does not matter whether we know this or not. The truth still remains. We all have a purpose too. No one is higher than another. We each have something great to learn from another. It does not matter whether we are a student or a teacher. All that is physical is an illusion anyway. I am here to work with whomever needs my assistance. I offer many options as well. I am well versed in what i do. What i do is not made up. I can show you and tell you too. I am not into showing off either. My energy and work with my ancestors, sometimes my clients ancestors too if i’m called to work with them for my client.

Seven Steps to Inner Peace and Happiness

Inner peace and happiness sound like ideal vacation spots that we never find time to visit. Let’s explore

1. Let go of past hurts inhibiting compassion.

How you hold on to painful events determines your level of inner peace. If the conflict haunts you with regret, anger or fear, you shut down your natural compassion and empathy for others. Instead of finding common ground with others, you react defensively to avoid getting hurt.

Listen to step 1, discerning the truth for yourself.

You are surprised with a gift, but you found yourself mentally cataloging past disappointments. Love was present, but you was in the land of perpetual dissatisfaction. When you’re living in the past, consciously choose to reorient yourself in the present by saying, “I willingly release this pain. I choose not to hold it as my own.”

2. Reconnect with inner wisdom.

When you need it most, the right idea pops into your head. Some call it intuition, others call it inner wisdom. This well of knowledge exists deep within, providing new ideas and solutions to resolve everyday situations.

Listen …discerning the truth for yourself.

I reconnect with inner wisdom when I am able to see the simplicity of a situation. I juggle many responsibilities, and my best ideas for time management pop up when I use a simple practice of listening within for straight-forward solutions. Taking a deep breath, I refocus my thoughts and affirm: “Wisdom within my being, flow freely and fill me with your simplicity.”

3. Disconnect from conventional wisdom and follow your heart.

Societal norms and expectations keep us on the straight and narrow path, following conventional wisdom for forming relationships (don’t talk to strangers), forwarding your career (work late to get ahead) and money money money (more is never enough). Conventional wisdom can supercede our inner wisdom, making us miserable in the pursuit to fit into society on all levels

Our hearts often know better, and it takes courage to follow a different code of behavior. Affirm your inner code of the heart by saying, “I willingly pull from my well of peace to guide my actions.”

4. Connect with universal energy.

Our world is filled with energy, including solar, wind and other energies harnessed by humanity. We are part of an interconnected universe of energy, which provides us with inspiration and creative juice. Like boats riding swiftly with the current, our greatest accomplishments are achieved when we flow with this universal energy. Artists and musicians use this energy as their muse.

Align with power to support your life’s work by saying, “I recognize and access the powerful world of energy around and within me.”

5. Discover your higher purpose.

You have a higher purpose beyond business and family roles. A coffee barista’s higher purpose may not be to mix a smooth latte, but to touch people with genuine acceptance. A stock broker’s higher purpose may not be to make people rich, but to manifest abundance in many forms. A garbage collector’s higher purpose may not be to process refuse, but to remove blocks from seeing the sweetness of life.

A higher purpose guides your exploration of life issues, leading you to perform certain roles. To find your purpose, look at the jobs you have held and the underlying ideals that drove you. A secretary may support everyone around her, at work and at home. Her underlying driving ideal may be loving others in all circumstances. She can explore and perform her higher purpose in every situation she encounters. Affirm your higher purpose by saying, “I feel great joy in exploring and performing my higher purpose.”

6. Live life like a master teacher.

Great master teachers remind us to use compassion, forgiveness and personal responsibility to guide our choices. You can forgive others by accessing compassion, which helps you to take personal responsibility for your actions. Master teachers use each experience as an opportunity to connect with others.

Affirm this by saying, “I honor the sacred within all beings.”

7. Encourage others on their personal journeys.

As you awaken your inner peace and happiness, your choices demonstrate to others how to live life on a deeper level. Share your happiness with others by encouraging them on their journeys. Gandhi encouraged people to be the peace they desire in the world.

Affirm your contribution by saying, “I let my joy reflect upon others.”

When inner vacationing, you’re already at home with peace and happiness….let LOVE Rule 😉

Foods to Add to the Brain!!!!!!!! Eating Plans to Help Improve Brain Function

Food is an easy way to improve brain function because you can build up the nutrients and chemicals needed for your brain to operate at maximum efficiency while also enhancing your overall health. Have you ever noticed if you skip a meal or two you have difficulty concentrating, or perhaps you become a little irritable? That’s your brain telling you it needs a new supply of nutrition to operate properly.

Essential fatty acids– many people are led to believe that dietary fats are bad. However certain fats obtained from foods are critical for optimal brain health. Your brain cells depend on fats for construction, repair, and ongoing communication.

Unsaturated fats are those that must be obtained from diet because the body cannot create them. Among the most important of these are unsaturated omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. Omega 6 fatty acids are plentiful in the typical American diet, it’s the omega-3 fatty acids that are less plentiful in our diet.

Water – water is required for survival 70 % of your brain is water. Each of us needs to drink plenty of water to maintain proper brain function. If you don’t consume enough water every day you will become dehydrated. When your brain becomes dehydrated, it is harder for your brain to make connections and recall information. You will easily become confused and disoriented. Stay hydrated if you expect your brain to keep working at its best.

Antioxidants and free radicalsOxidative damage caused by free radicals is responsible for much of the aging of our brain and other parts of our body. Free radicals damage various parts of our cells. The body’s defenses for neutralizing these free radicals are antioxidants. Antioxidants are molecules of various sizes and shapes that protect the brain and the body from free radicals and oxidative damage.

1. Blueberries – The levels of antioxidants found in blueberries help slow down oxidation of the brain. Not only do these chemicals help reduce the risk of mental diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia, as well as some cancers, they also can result in increased memory and motor skill function.

2. Black Currants – Black currants not only help protect brain cells, they are also jammed packed with antioxidants. They protect the cells found in hippocampus, a part of the brain which helps usher in information to be remembered and stored in other parts of the brain. The darker the color, the more rich in antioxidants they are.

3. Cherries – Jam-packed with antioxidants, cherries not only taste good, they are good brain food. Antioxidants help to fight off free radicals, thereby helping blood flow easier to the brain. Without the free radicals, not only does more blood make it to the brain, but the blood is more nutrient-dense.

4. Eggplant – Eggplant helps to protect the lipids in brain cell membranes. These lipids help to keep some of the bad stuff out, like free radicals, while also keeping the good stuff in.

5. Vegetables – the more colorful the vegetables on your plate, the better they are for you. Think about various colored lettuce, spinach, onions, bell peppers, I could go on and on. The more colorful the vegetable the better.

6. Salads- are refreshing ways to consume plenty of colorful vegetables, add a few almonds or walnuts or sunflower seeds. Salads are a healthy addition to the brain diet.

7. Fresh fruit-try adding fruit to your meals or as a snack between meals; strawberries and blueberries and other berries, oranges, tangerines, Apples, pears, melons, peaches, or mangoes can make refreshing and healthy desserts and snacks. Start using fruit in place of pastries and cookies for dessert your memory and your waistline will thank you.

8. Nuts and seeds – nuts and seeds are not only healthy but you can eat them as snacks add them to your salad or vegetable dish. Almonds, walnuts, and sunflower seeds are good brain healthy choices try to limit these to a small handful a day, due to their high calorie content.
