The Take Away: Stress Management For Young Girls

Running late for school, loads of books, back to back homework, pressure to keep grades up, to eat right, learn how to drive, get into school, stay in the loop in the social arena etc. The point here is, that you have a full plate sometimes. You carry tension in your shoulders, your back is sore at times, headaches come and go. With all that you want balance plus a bit of relief from it all. Let me share some ways you can simply take the stress away.

Stress happens to much of the world. There is just so much that has to get done. Everything takes its own time to complete. So, don’t worry you have plenty time to finish your list of to do’s. It may seem like there is no way to release the stress. If you want to de-stress grab 7-8 cups of water before doing anything else past this sentence.

Why water?

It has the power to ease head aches, muscle tightness, ADHD and more

Lowers blood pressure making you more comfortable throughout the day

Regulates overall body weight which leads to a longer lifespan

There is a science to stress management. There are doctors who have done the hard years of research to show the way heal the human body. If there is one book you may want to pick up to change your diet choices for the better, but also to sooth any bouts of stress. Look for a book called Eat Right For Your Blood Type. The book was published in January 1997. By, The Eat Right for Your Type diet encourages people to eat specific food items and stay away from others dependent on their blood type — A, B, AB, or O.

The program offers solid research, tips and reliable advice from a doctor on how to tailor your entire diet, and exercise regime into a manageable situation that will actually protect and heal your body from many known health issues such as cancer, chronic fatigue syndrome, digestive problems and stomach aches as well. If you implement just a few suggestions from the book along with drinking more water, and herbal teas from the book you will certainly feel better in a flash. Don’t expect stress, release it.

Mercury Retrograde: Another Chance to Go Within

Historically, Mercury Retrograde has been a time when people runaway from technology, communication and travel for many reasons. Lol but why?

What is Mercury Retrograde?:

This happens three to four times per year, when the planet Mercury slows down, and appears to stop (station) and move backward (retrograde). It’s an optical illusion, since there is forward movement, like speeding by a slow-moving train — as it recedes, it appears to go backward.

I saw this on a road trip, driving alongside a moving train going slower than my little white Subaru — it really does play tricks with your mind!

What are the Mercury Retrograde dates for 2012?:

March 12th to April 4th in Aries
July 14 to August 7 in Leo
November 6 to November 26 in Sagittarius, then Scorpio
What happens?:

Mercury is the messenger, and in this time, legend has it that mail vanishes en route. Some people find that their computers go on the fritz or phone lines go down. If you’re at all jittery about it, go ahead and back up your important files. That’s always a good idea anyway, right?
A Time-Out:

Mercury retrograde gives us time to catch up with ourselves, and reflect. Something from the past returns in a different form. People, ideas or buried insights that are keys to moving forward, float to the surface. Often it’s felt as a slowed down, contemplative time, and depending on the sign, a chance to go over old ground again, to claim what you missed the first time.
Err on Side of Caution:

There’s a long-held belief that it’s best to avoid making set plans during the Mercury Retrograde. This means holding off on signing contracts, and forming partnerships and alliances. What gets put in writing at this time may turn out to need serious revising after Mercury goes direct. But since tying up loose ends is the domain of retrograde, this type of finalization might fly.
Can you repeat that?:

In our relationships, sometimes we gloss over things that pushed buttons at the time, but which we let slide. What seemed not worth the trouble may reveal itself as a major issue in need of our attention. The Mercury retrograde is a time for review, when the underlying patterns come to light.
Back to the Drawing Board:

Some dreams and goals get lost in the hectic rushing around of daily life. The Mercury Retrograde period can be a rich time of reflection on those longings. This makes it a time for the soul to ponder its destiny. You might look over old journals, review your creative work, muse on serendipities of the past that have pointed you toward your spirit’s calling. It can make the retrograde period a time of solidifying a sense of your personal story and where you’re headed.
What does it mean in each different sign?:

The Mercury retrograde is shaped by the sign through which it is cast. For example, a Mercury retrograde in Cancer turns the mind toward things like family, home and the invisible emotional bonds that connect us. On the other hand, a Mercury retrograde in Aquarius gives it a different spin, with a review of group dynamics, the larger human community, all from a detached perspective.
Making the Most of Mercury Retrograde:

Astrology is a tool that can make you aware of patterns, like those that come during a Mercury retrograde. Just observe and see what happens, and be open to the past returning for review. If it’s coming back, there’s likely something more to learn or release from it. You don’t have to retreat to the zen monastery, but a little solitude and quiet reflection never hurt anybody.

Ornithine: The amino acid that helps to prompt the release of growth hormone, which promotes the metabolism of excess body fat.

Ornithine is a nonessential amino acid and is manufactured by the body. The amino acid, arginine, is metabolized during urea production and is required by the body as it acts as a precursor of citrulline, proline and glutamic acid. Ornithine induces the release of growth hormone in the body, which in turn helps with fat metabolism. It is required for a properly functioning immune system and liver and assists in ammonia detoxification and liver rejuvenation. Helps in healing and repairing skin and tissue.

Ornithine plays an important role in the urea cycle and is the precursor of the amino acids citrulline, glutamic acid, and proline. Another primary role of ornithine is being an intermediate in arginine biosynthesis, although this is due to its participation in the urea cycle (responsible for the production of urea). Ornithine is not directly incorporated into proteins and enzymes and does not have a codon in the genetic code.

Functions and Benefits of Ornithine

  • Induces the release of growth hormone in the body, which in turn helps with fat metabolism. It is required for a properly functioning immune system and liver and assists in ammonia detoxification and liver rejuvenation. Helps in healing and repairing skin and tissue.
  •  Ornithine is necessary for proper immune-system and liver function.
  • High concentrations of ornithine are found in the skin and connective tissue, making it useful for promoting healing and repairing damaged tissues.
  • Ornithine is synthesized in the body from arginine, and in turn serves as the precursor of citrulline, proline, and glutamic acid.
  • Animal research has suggested that ornithine, along with arginine, may promote muscle-building activity in the body by increasing levels of growth-promoting (anabolic) hormones such as insulin and growth hormone. However, most human research does not support these claims at reasonable intake levels. One study that did demonstrate increased growth hormone with oral ornithine used very high amounts (an average of 13 grams per day) and reported many gastrointestinal side effects. One controlled study reported greater increases in lean body mass and strength after five weeks of intensive strength training in athletes taking 1 gram per day each of arginine and ornithine, compared with a group doing the exercise but taking a placebo. These findings require independent confirmation.
  • Ornithine aspartate has been shown to be beneficial in people with brain abnormalities (hepatic encephalopathy) due to liver cirrhosis. In a double-blind trial, people with cirrhosis and hepatic encephalopathy received either 18 grams per day of L-ornithine-L-aspartate or a placebo for two weeks. Those taking the ornithine had significant improvements in liver function and blood tests compared with those taking the placebo.
Deficiency Symptoms of Ornithine

  • Since the body can produce ornithine, a deficiency of this non-essential amino acid is rare.
  • A deficiency of this nonessential amino acid is unlikely, though depletion can occur during growth or pregnancy, and after severe trauma or malnutrition.
Rich Food Sources of Ornithine
  • carob, chocolate, coconut, dairy products, gelatin, meats, oats, peanuts, soybeans, walnuts, wheat, and wheat germ.

Delicious Vegetarian Transitional Food:

The Best Golden Apple Cinnamon Pancakes with Caramel syrup

1 cup-unbleached all purpose flour (or use 1/2 cup spelt and 1/2 cup unbleached all purpose flour) (or 1/2 cup wholewheat and 1/2 cup unbleached all purpose flour

1 Tablespoonbaking powder

1 Tablespoon-ground flaxseed optional

1/4-teaspoon salt

1/4-teaspoon-cinnamon (optional)

1/8-teaspoon-nutmeg (optional)

1 pinch of allspice (optional)

3 Tablespoon-1 sweetener honey/maple syrup/agave nectar/organic sugar/apple juice

1 cup-nondairy milk

3 Tablespoon-unsweetened apple sauce

2 Tablespoon-canola (safflower or nondairy butter, melted)

3 Tablespoon-butter or oil for cooking

Use 2 bowls one for dry ingredients and one for the wet ingredients. In a medium bowl and add flour, baking powder, flaxseed, salt, spices and sift together. In the second bowl add applesauce, sweetener, non dairy milk, and canola oil then mix for a minute.

Add the dry mixture of flour to the wet ingredients, mix for about 30 seconds, a few lumps are fine. Over mixing will activate gluten in the flour, this will lead to a gummy texture in the pancakes.

Heat a saute pan or griddle to medium temperature, melt only a half teaspoon of oil into the pan then pour batter in pan measuring about 4 tablespoons of mix per pancake or pour in more batter for larger pancakes if you like. after you poor the first pancake, turn the heat down to medium low (pancakes cook fast and its fine to cook them slower so they won’t burn).

Cook pancakes for a few minutes on one side then gently slide the spatula under the pancake and turn over for a couple minutes or until pancake is lightly brown. Continue this pour and cook process until you have made all the pancakes you want.

Serves: 2-4 Tip: save extra pancakes by wrapping individually in foil then freezing them. Later pull them out and toast them in the toaster or oven!

Nutrition tips You Can Use!

New Evidence that eating Vegan can reduce your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

The little known truth about protein is that most of us get too much, not too little of it.

Calcium-rich foods to try: spinach, collard greens, kale, soy milk, fortified orange juice, sesame seeds, tahini, broccoli, almonds, carrots, and rice milk.

Be sure to shake your soy milk and orange juice before drinking, as the calcium can settle to the bottom. Women need about 45 grams of protein per day and men need around 55 grams.

One cup of tofu contains about 20 grams of protein, so women, eat some tofu and you’re almost halfway there!

Many foods contain protein and if you’re eating a well-balanced diet, you’re probably consuming more than enough protein without even thinking about it.

Make sure you’re eating a variety of protein-rich foods.

Eating whole foods really helps to completely take the guesswork out of proper vegan nutrition. Every time you choose whole foods over processed and packaged foods you’re definitely ahead of the game.

Consume high protein foods like tofu, seitan, soy, lentils, chickpeas, nuts and seeds, brown rice and whole grains.

It’s possible to get more than enough iron on a vegan diet.

Drinking coffee and tea, particularly with meals, can limit your absorption and should be consumed at least three hours before a meal.

For an iron boost eat tofu, lentils, spinach, soy, chickpeas.

Vitamin C also increases the absorption of iron.

Fat, Calories and Cholesterol in meats and dairy are a huge burden on your system.

Give up meat and dairy for 3 weeks and see huge results.

Eliminate animal products and you’ll gain a tremendous amount of antioxidants plus this fiber that you’ll add to your diet by switching to a vegan diet cleans out your system immediately.

Amplify Your Food With Good Vibrations!

Why You’ve Got To Try Energetic Cooking

In the process of preparing a meal there is a special opportunity to infuse nutrients inside the food with love. I call this Energetic Cooking since you’re using energy and intent on the food. This one step can transform  a stagnant household in minutes! The truth is- even when someone feels there is nothing they can do to assist in the nurturing of another. We can always do something to help someone.

For instance, you know someone under the weather and you’re preparing  food or drink for them, you want to share some positive vibes with them too. Its an easy process to do all this at the same time, simply place your hands over the pots and visualize the person smiling, vital or just see them back in full strength.

You can also do this by singing songs that you feel will energize you and this will energize the space you’re preparing in.

If you look throughout history and even in some households today, you will find examples of people massaging seasonings, herbs and singing, chanting or visualizing. The nourishment comes not only from the cook’s added ingredients but it also comes from the intention of love that’s blended together with their hands. Get creative with your next meal. Raise your vibrations to where you want them to be by energizing your food!

Petrified Wood: The Gemstone of Transformation

What is Petrified Wood? Metaphysically speaking it’s a symbol of man’s infinite connection with nature.

The process of petrification begins with three raw ingredients: wood, water and mud. A material formed by the silicification of wood, generally in the form of opal or chalcedony, in such a manner as to preserve the original form and structure of the wood. Also known as agatized wood; opalized wood; petrified wood; woodstone. Petrified wood has been preserved for millions of years by the process of petrification. This process turns the wood into quartz crystal which is very brittle and shatters. Even though petrified wood is fragile, it is also harder than steel.

Petrified wood (from the Greek root petro meaning “rock” or “stone”; literally “wood turned into stone”) is the name given to a special type of fossilized remains of terrestrial vegetation. It is the result of a tree having turned completely into stone by the process of permineralization. All the organic materials have been replaced with minerals (mostly a silicate, such as quartz), while retaining the original structure of the wood. Unlike other types of fossils which are typically impressions or compressions, petrified wood is a three-dimensional representation of the original organic material. The petrifaction process occurs underground, when wood becomes buried under sediment and is initially preserved due to a lack of oxygen which inhibits aerobic decomposition. Mineral-laden water flowing through the sediment deposits minerals in the plant’s cells; as the plant’s lignin and cellulose decay, a stone mould forms in its place.

In general, wood takes less than 100 years to petrify. The organic matter needs to become petrified before it decomposes completely. A forest where the wood has petrified becomes known as a Petrified Forest.

Elements such as manganeseiron and copper in the water/mud during the petrification process give petrified wood a variety of color ranges. Pure quartz crystals are colorless, but when contaminants are added to the process the crystals take on a yellow, red, or other tint.

Following is a list of contaminating elements and related color hues:

Petrified wood can preserve the original structure of the wood in all its detail, down to the microscopic level. Structures such as tree rings and the various tissues are often observed features.

Metaphysical facts about Petrified Wood: Used to connect to past lives, for grounding, to attract wealth, strength and courage, reminds one of nature, used to stimulate the root chakra, brings about mental calm and centers the energy body.
