Tales From The Fast Food Kitchen: What The H Is That Made Of?

Have you ever wondered what in the hell fastfood is made of these days? I’m sure you have. People all over the country have to know that something isn’t quite right. If you stop to ask most people what they think about this mystery food they might turn around and say ‘ Hey don’t ask me, I have no clue about this monster mash lol.

Each and every year someone with only a little common sense is calling the shots on the constant production of useless food in this country. Each year the processed food industry manufactures more processed and fast foods by the truck loads. But why are they making more? Apparently the food they’re making is not good for our bodies! A decade ago Americans weren’t nearly as over weight as they are now. The rapid weight increase is so astronomical that you can’t keep up with the national statistics because the numbers are just out of control and they’re getting higher by the second.

If this processed fluff is so safe for you then why are people everywhere over weight, emotionally challenged and dying faster than ever. I know the picture isn’t the easiest to look at but we have to make a drastic change or else.  Let’s take a look at the substances that are served up daily at our local fast food joints. As i researched the details of the fast food ingredients i was even more surprised and shocked at the same time. I damn near wiped my fore head during the crap shoot information gathering. I am so glad i changed my diet to a plant- based one years ago.  So what exactly is this ‘stuff.’

After you do your own research and read this article, there’s a strong possibility that you’ll stop eating the fast, fattening, popular ‘grab and go’ diet. Why would you stop eating the usual processed meal? Because we are what we eat. And the information we found was astounding. Nope, we aren’t talking about just a couple of bright red flags here. There are enough clues on the table to make just about anyone rethink even buying a cup of water from a fast food place. I have to admit it, from where i stand the pro’s out weigh the con’s in this case. Eating to live is beneficial for the body, nobody can argue that point and well, doing the opposite of that means that we’re eating to die? It doesn’t quite add up. No one can judge what anyone does with their body. You are the only one who can judge what you eat and how you live. We’re just here to inform you. we want to see Bliss on the planet. (NaturalNews) The movie Supersize Me has probably had more of an effect than the producers anticipated. Since then, in the fast food industry, there has been a market trend promoting menu items that appear to be healthy. But most of these menu items have ingredients that health conscious consumers would prefer to avoid.

Most health conscious consumers consider healthy foods to be things like raw fruits and vegetables, whole grains, raw nuts and seeds, and clean meats like wild Alaskan salmon, or free-range chicken or turkey.

Some ingredients that health conscious consumers consider unacceptable are MSG (or free glutamate, or free glutamic acid, including anything hydrolyzed or autolyzed), trans fats (hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils , artificial colors, artificial flavors, and most preservatives.

Many so-called healthy fast food menu items, upon closer inspection, do not live up to the health hype. Most of the meat from any of the major chains has anything but a simple ingredients list. They add emulsifiers, preservatives, MSG, artificial colors, trans fats, and hidden ingredients under generic labels such as spices, or natural and artificial flavors.

Some of these food additives are not foods at all, but are chemicals that are generally recognized as safe. Most of these additives cannot be found at your local grocery store, probably because they aren’t food. But some can be found at your local hardware store, though in inedible products like low tox antifreeze, silicone caulk, soap, sunscreen, and play sand.

McDonald’s

The egg’s reputation is recovering, but scrambled eggs as a part of McDonald’s breakfast include much more than egg. Their pasteurized whole eggs have sodium acid pyrophosphate, citric acid, and monosodium phosphate (all added to preserve color), and nisin, a preservative. To top it off, the eggs are prepared with liquid margarine: liquid soybean oil, water, partially hydrogenated cottonseed and soybean oils (trans fats), salt, hydrogenated cottonseed oil (trans fat), soy lecithin, mono- and diglycerides, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate (preservatives), artificial flavor, citric acid, vitamin A palmitate, and beta carotene (color). Though not all bad, these added chemicals may be the reason why homemade scrambled eggs taste so much better than McDonald’s.

Oh what’s this? How about an order of chicken nuggets? What the? Yea, we know. This is what they call mechanically separated chicken in the lab. Chickens are turned into this goop so you can eat mystery meat chicken nuggets and chicken patties. But wait there’s more: Since it’s a bacteria haven by now, next it will be soaked in ammonia. to remix the flavor a bit, so you will actually eat, next it will get a flavor make over artificially of course. Then, to cover the ugly pink color of mystery putty that nobody will want if they actually saw it after processing…finally it will be dyed with artificial color.

For coffee drinkers, it would seem fairly safe to just grab a quick cup of coffee at McDonald’s on the way to work. But many health conscious people would object to it also including this list of ingredients: sodium phosphate, sodium polyphosphate, Di-Acetyl Tartrate Ester of Monoglyceride, sodium stearoyl lactylate, tetra sodium pyrophosphate, sodium hexametaphosphate, sodium citrate, and carrageenan. Do health nuts still drink coffee?

Salads can usually be counted on to be a “what you see is what you get” item. But McDonald’s adds some interesting ingredients. The salads with grilled chicken also have liquid margarine.

Several salads have either cilantro lime glaze, or orange glaze added. Along with many of McDonald’s sauces, both the cilantro lime glaze and the orange glaze contain propylene glycol alginate. While propylene glycol is considered “GRAS” for human consumption, it is not legal for use in cat food because the safety hasn’t been proven yet. Propylene glycol is also used “As the killing and preserving agent in pitfall traps, usually used to capture ground beetles”.

The chili lime tortilla strips that are included in the southwest salads have several ingredients used to hide MSG. They also contain two ingredients that advertise the presence of MSG: disodium inosinate, and disodium guanylate.

The chicken has sodium phosphates (of an unspecified variety). It could be trisodium phosphate (a cleanser), monosodium phosphate (a laxative), or disodium hydrogen phosphate . Why would McDonald’s add sodium phosphates (a foaming agent), and dimethylpolysiloxane added as an antifoaming agent in their crispy chicken breast fillets? It isn’t dishwasher detergent.

Burger King

It’s interesting to note that the BK Veggie Burger has six ingredients commonly used to hide free glutamate (MSG): calcium caseinate, hydrolyzed corn, yeast extract, soy protein isolate, spices, and natural flavors. At the end of the ingredients list, it states This is NOT a vegan product. The patty is cooked in the microwave. Was that a warning statement?

Burger King has three salads to choose from. The TENDERCRISP Garden Salad, the TENDERGRILL Garden Salad, and the Side Garden Salad.

A salad may be a little boring without a dressing like Ken’s Fat Free Ranch Dressing which includes titanium dioxide (an artificial color, or sunscreen, depending on use), preservatives, and the ingredient seemingly mandatory in all ranch dressings: monosodium glutamate.

Once again, as is typical with the fast food industry, they took a simple thing like chicken, and added a long list of ingredients.

Taco Bell

Taco Bell’s website didn’t have much emphasis on health. Under the nutrition guide, at the bottom was a link to Keep it Balanced, a token nod to health. It had no serious information on how to really eat healthy. They recommend foods like pizza and tacos (no surprise) because they may include ingredients from several food groups at once. Including several food groups does not necessarily mean it’s a healthy food.

The seasoned beef, carne asada steak, spicy shredded chicken, and even the rice all include autolyzed yeast extract (hidden MSG). Disodium inosinate and disodium guanylate are flavor enhancers used in synergy with MSG. Therefore, menu items with disodium inosinate and/or disodium guanylate also contain MSG. This includes the avocado ranch dressing, southwest chicken, citrus salsa, creamy jalapeno sauce, creamy lime sauce, lime seasoned red strips, pepper jack sauce, and seasoned rice.

According to Wikipedia, dimethylpolysiloxane is optically clear, and is generally considered to be inert, non-toxic, and non-flammable. It is used in silicone caulk, adhesives, and as an anti-foaming agent. Appetizingly enough, it’s also included in Taco Bell’s rice.

Wendy’s

At Wendy’s, there are several tempting salads. The mandarin chicken salad seems healthy at first glance. It has diced chicken, mandarin oranges, almonds, crispy noodles, your choice of dressings, and five different varieties of lettuce. Then reality takes a bite when you check the ingredients list. The almonds are roasted and salted. The crispy noodles are not whole grain. The mandarin orange segments are not freshly peeled oranges; most likely canned. The diced chicken has added autolyzed yeast extract (MSG), disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, sodium phosphates (soap?), salt, more salt, sugar, modified cornstarch (sic), and the universal umbrella ingredient list: spices, natural flavors, and artificial flavors.

Sand is hidden in Wendy’s chili as a name you might remember from high school chemistry class: silicon dioxide. Apparently they use sand as an “anti-caking agent,” perhaps to make sure the chili can last for days and days over a heater. Skip it, cook yourself a quick vegetarian meal instead this Thanksgiving.

In the ingredients lists for the salad dressings, one surprise was titanium dioxide in the Low Fat Honey Mustard Dressing and the Reduced Fat Creamy Ranch Dressing. It’s a very versatile chemical. It can be used to manufacture paint, sunscreen, semiconductors, and food coloring.

Wendy’s Southwest Taco Salad is a salad with Wendy’s chili. Once again, the chili has hidden MSG: autolyzed yeast extract, spices, artificial flavors, natural flavorings, disodium inosinate and disodium guanylate (MSG give-aways). It’s puzzling to try to understand why their chili would need to include an anti-caking agent such as silicon dioxide (also known as sand, or glass powder).

My body is very healthy first of all. I enjoy keeping it that way. Never been to the hospital for anything besides check ups. Any ailment I have had in my life i have used natural means to fix or deal with it. Somethings do require a hospital. I don’t knock western medicine at all. It has its place but we should not use that an an excuse to not be healthy.

Continuing on..I have loved meditation since the first day i was introduced to it which was many years ago. I learned the art of meditation the best when i had a teacher to show me how to do it, verses how not to do it. I have seen some awesome results in my world because i know i have the power within me to do what i choose to do. However the greatest thing i learned was that when we can make decisions when we are in the heat of the moment or at the crossroads. That’s when  our response means everything. If i can train to be peaceful in the midst of a challenge, however when the challenge comes my way. I react in a way that was not a part of the plan…hey that’s one reason meditation is perfect. Reprogramming is what most of us in this world have to do. Taking charge of my live through the breath is what i use meditation for.

It’s important to be proactive in life. Why wait for a health challenge to happen to us, we can do the work to make sure our inner body is on point and we can live stress and illusion free from thinking that the world or anyone is against us. Even if they are deliberately doing things to harm us. It is in our response that determines the outcome in life. We can live longer fuller lives by managing our breathing better. You may use meditation for something all together different but it will helps you regardless. Enjoy your journey as i have enjoyed mine.

Hey~ I was thinking about the millions of ways to make money on and offline. I have had my share of businesses over the years, starting with when i was first born. I’ve always thought like a business person. Money can be made legally 24/7 all it takes is confidence and some research then ready, set go!

This topic came to mind. As i went through my start up businesses in my head. So here’s a small list of somethings i found from researching around the internet and speaking to some go getters. Remember you are the one who makes the it happen. You can make your business as big or small as you want to. It’s all up to you! What a beautiful thing:-) Choices~ There are more than 10 but i chose a few for you.

 

 

1. Sale stuff on Craigslist~ I’ve done this before. It’s very simple to set up. Check their website. Look at the endless opportunities to sale what you have to others who may need your inventory of excess stuff more than you. You can sell any and everything. This site is also great for giving items away from free too. Just post and people will show up. I know i just used it to sell and give away a load of stuff.

2. Sale to motorists~ We have all seen them standing on the medians in the street selling water, clothes, pies, food, soda, flowers and fruit. This is a way to make some fast money, all you have to do is step outside and do it. While you are in the street, Be safe too.

3. Hold a garage/ yard sale~ This is a popular one. Put a table outside and get to selling. That’s all there is to it. Make it easy and put a sign out weeks ahead of time too..Before the sale make sure you get change too.

5. Sale food out of your house and/or car~ Look up Sam’s club or other bulk buying stores. Plan your meals, think of your clients and schedule it after careful research. However, if you know you can cook. You can start tomorrow using only paper plates and foil lol. I used to do this also. I love cooking and sharing food. There is no limit to what you can do here.

6. Rent out your house~ This is a no brainer. I suggest you heavily interview and make sure you get the right person before you make your final choice. For some, Its easier to hire a company to do the leg work of finding prospects that need a home. They will interview them, bring them to your space, show them what you have to offer (while you’re home of course) these placement companies do not cost too much.

7. Make stuff to sale~ This is a piece i created by hand. It’s a Sunshine bag. Simply make something you enjoy making and show or tell others about it. That’s all there is to it! trust me, someone wants what you have to offer. why wouldn’t they? Exactly, you’re mad talented. No doubting allowed at Bliss Returned :-).

8. Set up and sell at the flea market~ So easy! To set up at least. Making money may take some chit chatting but who can’t do that? Go for it. Call your local flea market and make a trip there as well to check out what others’ are doing. Bring something the public wants and just do it!

9. Become a dog walker~ Hey i could not leave this one out. It’s easy for those who love animals, especially if you meditate on a regular basis, are very patient and loving. Someone out there needs what you have to offer. It takes a certain kinda person to do this but hey, you have what it takes. If you want to walk the dogs- go do it:-) place an ad, hang a poster, tell people everywhere.

  • Select the correct bra for your needs.
    • Choose a bra with a wide back strap. The wider the back strap the more support you get in front. This may include bras with 3-6 hooks.
