Cobalt is an important element in the formation of cobalamin or vitamin B12. It is not easily assimilated in the body and is stored in red blood cells, liver, plasma, spleen, kidney, and pancreas. The cobalt atom in vitamin B12 is attached and surrounded to a deoxyadenosyl group, methyl group, and a cyano group or hydroxyl group.
