Most serpentines are opaque to translucent, light weight and soft. Its hardness is 2.5–4 on the moh’s scale. All are microcrystalline and massive in habit, never being found as single crystalsLuster may be vitreous, greasy or silky. The more attractive and durable varieties (all of antigorite) are termed “noble” or “precious” serpentine and are used extensively as gems and in ornamental carvings.

Colours range from white to grey, yellow to green, and brown to black, and are often splotchy or veined. Many are intergrown with other minerals, such as calcite and dolomite.

Occurrence is worldwide; New CaledoniaCanada (Quebec),USA (northern CaliforniaRhode IslandConnecticutMassachusettsMaryland and southern Pennsylvania), AfghanistanBritain (Cornwall and Ireland), Greece (Thessaly), ChinaFranceKorea,Austria (Styria and Carinthia), India (Assam, and Manipur), Myanmar (Burma), New ZealandNorwayand Italy are notable localities.

Rock composed primarily of these minerals is called serpentinite. Serpentines find use in industry for a number of purposes, such as railway ballasts, building materials, and the asbestiform types find use as thermal and electrical insulation.

They have their origins in metamorphic alterations of peridotite and pyroxene. Serpentines may also pseudomorphously replace other magnesium silicates. Alterations may be incomplete, causing physical properties of serpentines to vary widely. Where they form a significant part of the land surface, the soil is unusually high in clay.

HERKIMER DIAMONDS are often placed in the hands of students of metaphysics to attune them to their instructors learning style and vibration, prior to class. This is done to make sure the student will trust the new information also, this relaxes them to a deeper level of receptivity.

Herkimers were named after place where they were first found at Herkimer, New York USA. It’s Not a real diamond, though it certainly has a unique beauty in its natural state. A real Diamond, is cut and polished to bring out its vibrance but a Herkimer Diamond requires no cutting or polishing at all. It is faceted and sparkling naturally.  Herkimer is a generic name for a double-terminated quartz crystal with a point at each end that has grown in clay. A Libra and Scorpio birthstone.  Herkimers have a hardness of seven (on the Moh’s Scale).

Herkimer diamonds became largely recognized after workmen discovered them in large quantities while cutting into the Mohawk River Valley dolostone in the late 18th century. Geologists discovered exposed dolostone in Herkimer County and began mining there. The popularity of mining for double-terminated quartz in the Herkimer County outcroppings is what led to the name, Herkimer diamonds.

Currently, Herkimer diamonds can be found in large measure in at least Herkimer, Fulton, and Montgomery counties, and double-pointed quartz crystals have also been found in abundance, in Tibet and Afghanistan as well as in other countries.

Many of the New York crystals are known for their extreme clarity. Specific metaphysical qualities include: balances the right and left hemispheres of the brain resulting in: Out-of-this-world knowledge and comprehension, like all quartz crystals they have the ability to convert one form of energy into another, they have the ability to amplify other gemstones healing properties, A great stone for understanding esoteric information, Encourages creative and artistic abilities, Elevates the auric field to the point where its stabilized so it cannot be penetrated by outside forces; protective and uplifting. Vitamin Q (coenzyme Q10 ) : This vitamin Q is essential for the normal functioning of cell and can be utilized in treating the diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and obesity.

Tipos de aceite en la cocinaCoenzyme Q10 is naturally fat soluble, but there are forms labeled Q-Gel or hydrosoluble, which are water soluble and more easily absorbed. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a substance that’ s found naturally in the body and helps convert food into energy. CoQ10 is found in almost every cell in the body, and it is a powerful antioxidant.  It can be accumulated in the heart, liver, pancreas and kidneys. Some of its amount is also present in the lungs.  Coenzyme Q10 levels decrease with age or as the individual gets older. This vitamin Q is essential for the normal functioning of cell and can be utilized in treating the diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and obesity.

CoQ10 is well-established as a powerful antioxidant that protects against free radical damage to cells and DNA.  Damage to DNA is linked to cancer, so in protecting against DNA damage, antioxidants help protect the body against cancer.  Studies have shown up to 95% drop in cell membrane damage after CoQ10 supplementation.

Vitamin F (Essential fatty acid): The vitamin that supports healthy blood cholesterol levels, nervous system, cardiovascular health and circulatory function.

Vitamin F is a fat-soluble vitamin consisting of the unsaturated fatty acids. These usually come in the form of liquid vegetable oils, while saturated fatty acids are found in animal fat. This vitamin is important for respiration of vital organs, and helps lubricate the cells. It is essential for normal glandular activity and helps regulate blood coagulation, it also helps break up cholesterol deposits on the arterial walls.

Vitamin F works in tandem with vitamin D in the body in making calcium available to the tissues, assisting in the assimilation of phosphorus, and stimulating the conversion of carotene into vitamin A. It is essential for the normal functioning of the reproductive system, it nourishes skin cells and is needed for healthy mucous membranes and nerves.

Vitamin F or Fatty Acids are the acids occurring in natural triglycerides and are monocaroboxylc acids ranging in chain length from 4 to usually 24 carbon atoms. They are yielded by fats on hydrolysis along with glycerol. Fatty acids are divides into

  • Saturated fatty acids such as lauric, palmitic and stearic acid
  • Unsaturated fatty acids are further divvied into monosaturated and polysaturated fatty acids.
  • Monounsaturated fatty acids: These fatty acids lower the total plasma cholesterol level but have no affect in high density lipoprotein (HDL)
  • Polyunsaturated fatty acids: The nutritionally important poly unsaturated fatty acids may either be omega-3 or omeg-6 fatty acids. Both of them cause lowering of cholesterol level but omega 6 has disadvantage of lowering HDL also.

The polyunsaturated fatty acids are mostly found in vegetables oils while the saturated ones are found in animal fats.
Essential fatty acid are those that cannot be synthesized in our body so they have to be derived only from the foods. They are the linoleic acid and the α-linolenic acid and these are polyunsaturated fatty acids. Arachidonic is semi essential fatty acid. Among these most important essential fatty acid is the linoleic acid which serves as a basis for the production of other essential fatty acids.

Functions of Essential Fatty Acids

  • Lowers blood cholesterol.
  • Help slower risk of heart disease.
  • Helps adrenal glands.
  • To the skin, it brings suppleness and a youthful appearance and hair becomes more shiny and healthy
  • Beneficial in intestinal bacteria.
  • Aids in blood coagulation and calcium transport to cells.
  • May assist in the reduction of weight and it provides the body with a fatty substance that can easily be metabolized
  • Supports healthy blood cholesterol levels, nervous system, cardiovascular health and circulatory function.
  • Helps to nourish your immune system, skin and hair. Enhances joint function, making movement easier
  •  Supports glandular activity, especially the thyroid and adrenal glands. Aids in blood coagulation and calcium transport to cells.

Deficiency symptoms of Vitamin F

  • Hair loss.
  • Eczema.
  • Damage to the kidneys, heart and liver.
  • Slow healing.

Best food sources of vitamin F

Omega-6 fatty acids: almonds, avocado, bee pollen, fruits, garlic, ginger, licorice root, nuts, olive oil, oranges, parsley, peanuts, pecans, root vegetables, seeds, spinach, spirulina, all kinds of sprouts, sunflower seeds, vegetable oil, wheatgerm, wheat, wheatgrass and grains.

Nickel : The trace mineral that aids in iron absorption, as well as adrenaline and glucose metabolism.

Nickel is one of the trace mineral or micronutrient in our body since it is present in very small amount in the our body but it plays an important part in overall health of the human body and in bodily processes. Nickel  aids in iron absorption, as well as adrenaline and glucose metabolism, hormones, lipid, cell membrane,  improves bone strength and may also play a role in production of red blood cells. Optimal growth, healthy skin, bone structure, enhances alkaline phosphate.

Nickel and  Cobalt share left / right-sided cell receptors and are essential to human health. While a Cobalt + Vitamin B12 relationship is well documented, a similar, but less documented affiliation applies to Nickel + Vitamin C.  Also less documented is the control nickel and cobalt exert over the muscular walls of the body’s arteries.  Cobalt specifically affects the right coronary artery, resulting in vasodilation with low levels, and vasoconstriction with high levels, while nickel exerts the same effect on the left coronary artery.

Functions of Nickel

  • Nickel is found to be beneficial being an important cofactor to various enzymes where it acts to accelerate the normal chemical reactions occurring in our body.
  • This element has been shown to take part in reaction catalyzed by oxidoreductases and hydrolyses (e.g. urease)
  • Nickel is in RNA and DNA of our body where it functions in association with these nucleic acids.
  • It probably has a role in stabilizing RNA structure.
  • It is found to be helpful in normal bone functioning and health.
  • Nickel is an important factor in the cell membrane and the lipid also.

Deficiency of Nickel

Since it is traced element, deficiency of it us rare. But it is found that due low amount of nickel in the bodies of some individual certain liver as well as kidney diseases arise in them.

Rich Food Sources of Nickel

It is found in many foods and these include both animal as well as plant sources.

Plants are the main dietary source of nickel. Plants grown in soil contaminated with nickel will have a higher content of nickel in them. Some rich sources of this mineral  include fruits, in some vegetables, grains , peas, dried beans, chocolate, nuts and oats. Animal foods are a poor source of nickel, while drinking water contributes to nickel considerably.
